The Stairs Revealed... Finally!

Hey there! Hope you had a happy Halloween!! I was hanging out with Darth Vader, a golfer...

(Not sure what was up with the binoculars!)
 a football player...

and ...

an X-Box... get it? This was the only costume I made. Pretty impressive, huh? Oh well... it was a hit with the 5th grade crowd.

I've pretty much been in a chocolate-induced coma since Monday. However, I did manage to take some pictures of our recently completed stairs.  It is a real "treat" to have them done. I love being able to walk up and down them without fear of puncturing my foot on a stray staple or jagged piece of plywood.

I was unprepared for what a major hassle this project would be. Many times throughout the process, I regretted that we started it. But now that it's done, I am so happy with it! I guess that's how it is with stair projects. There are ups and downs. Ba dum bum! I'll be here all week.

Here is the "before" of the front staircase with white carpeting and honey-stained oak handrails...

And, here is the "after" with dark-stained treads and painted black handrails...

A couple more views...

Here is the "before" of the back staircase...

And, the "after"...

View from the top (excuse the poor lighting)...

So there's the stairs! Hope you like the way they turned out :) Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!

  1. Your kids are adorable! I LOVE the Xbox, how clever and cool is that! I know that when I golf I need binoculars to see where in the woods I hit the ball. :) lol!
It sounds like they had a great time and I think I will be in that chocolate induced coma for a while. :)
Your stairs turned out so gorgeous!! I know what a hassle projects are but they really are worth it in the end, you guys did an amazing job, even with all the "ups and downs"! :) You make me laugh.
    Enjoy your day!!

  3. Your kiddos are adorable and the stairs look amazing!!! I so want to rip off the carpet on mine - this makes me want to even more. Do you think my husband would notice if he were to come home from work today and see carpet scraps and staples everywhere?

  4. Wow! What an upgrade on the stairs. They remind me of the house I owned during my year in Atlanta. Beautiful.

  6. Oh, cute costumes and I love your stairs. I want my carpet off some day and the rails black, but I want someone else to paint them instead of me. That is just too much work and I do all the painting in this house.

  7. stunning! I had a staircase like this in one of our former homes and I adored it. All the others were carpeted nightmares.
LOVE the xbox costume and what an adorable little golfer!

  8. Your kids are adorable all dressed up. I have to say that the xbox costume is pretty cute. I totally get it. My 10 yr old son plays xbox ALL the time. He plays live with a headset so he's in parties etc. Your staircases turned out beautiful! I can see how much work you put into it, especially with how many stairs you have. I love the black railing and white trim too.

  9. The staircases are beautiful and the kids are adorable. A house with two staircase! So envious. I ate two bags of Snickers myself and had to hide from the trick or treaters because there was nothing left! Note to self: don't buy Halloween candy early, even if it's on sale.

  10. What an incredible transformation on the stairs! I can only imagine how much work that must have been, but it was definitely worth the effort.
BTW, your kids are super cute!

  19. Love the way your stairs turned out! I just recently did a mini re-do of this version by painting my hand rails and risers black. My stairs aren't as grand as yours. Your stain is pretty too!

  21. Love the X Box!!! And you stairs look fabulous! In fact I just emailed a picture to one of my clients [she is doing a renovation] about the paneling going up the stairs. She has 2 kids, but it is definitely an area that can get pretty scuffed up!!!
